The state of being on the move and the relationship of parts to whole, whether marks forming a composition or a crowd gathering for a single purpose are phenomena that I find fascinating. Inspired by the immediate gratification found within the process drawing, I approach an idea of congregation and dispersal with a playful sense of expectation. “I feel the process of drawing as something like an electric circuit: something passes from what I look at to me and from me to it. And, hopefully, when conditions are right, when everything is plugged in, I’m carried away by this flux” (Yves Berger 66).” Likewise, my personal experience of connection within a group of people has a dynamic ebb and flow. Within the work I am interested in forming connections between the individual and the collective experience that references an ultimately mysterious greater organization.
